We’re pleased to announce that KateKintail will dye her hair purple for the 2011 Convention!

There was a magnificent push for pink (nearly all donations we received over the last few days were for that color), but it wasn’t enough to get us to the 75% mark on the meter or to take over for the commanding lead purple has assumed. So there won’t be another run-off to follow, but as soon as we hit 75%, it’s Skyring’s turn to dye his hair.

Even small donations help, so ask your BookCrossing friends who can’t make it to the convention to help support BookCrossing’s 10th anniversary by donating just a little toward the color of your choice!

Everyone can also still purchase raffle tickets to win a one-of-a-kind, handmade, Ballycumber Blanket, which can be won by anyone, not just convention attendees.

We’re also thrilled that your donations have pushed us above the 70% mark, which means it’s KateKintail’s turn to have a run-off. Purple holds a commanding lead; will you help one of the other colors pull ahead?

Voting to decide KateKintail’s hair color ends: Saturday, March 26 at 11:59PM EDT.

Whatever hair color is in the lead at the end of the day on Saturday will be her hair color.

We’re pleased to announce that crrcookie will dye her hair purple for the 2011 Convention! For those of you not keeping track, that’s two purples in a row. Is it stuck on purple or will it change again? Keep in mind that if we hit the 90% and 100% marks, we’ll be dyeing our hair two or three colors. In that case, this would just be the first color.

Next up is ResQgeek’s run-off. Will we have three purples in a row? There are two days to decide!

Whatever hair color is in the lead at the end of the day on Thursday will be his hair color. We’re sooooo close to having a run-off for KateKintail’s hair color, so donate now and get us to 70%!

On Sunday, March 20, BCinDC members met up at Elevation Burger in National Harbor. We slowly took over one table, then two, three, and four as space opened up around us and our books got some room to spread out.

After lunch, some of us headed down to the waterfront to visit the Peeps store and the Awakening statue–even Bally joined in on the fun there.

On Sunday, March 13, ResQgeek led a bunch of BCinDC members on a walking tour of historic Old Town Alexandria. We saw many significant historic locations. Even those of us who live in the area saw and learned something new! We also visited the tree planted to honor ResQgeek’s daughter, Becky (it was nice to see it in the daylight). We walked past the restaurant, Bilbo Baggins. And, naturally, we released books along the way!
